SERMON NOTES

Keeping the Gospel Pure
Galatians 2:11-21

The Issue of Circumcision vv3-5

Paul's Confrontation With Peter vv11-12

Amos 5:21-23 I hate, I despise your feast days, and I do not savor your sacred assemblies. Though you offer Me burnt offerings and your grain offerings, I will not accept them, Nor will I regard your fattened peace offerings. Take away from Me the noise of your songs, For I will not hear the melody of your stringed instruments.

Acts 10:12-15 In it were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air. 13 And a voice came to him, “Rise, Peter; kill and eat.” But Peter said, “Not so, Lord! For I have never eaten anything common or unclean.” And a voice spoke to him again the second time, “What God has cleansed you must not call common.”

Acts 10:28 You know how unlawful it is for a Jewish man to keep company with or go to one of another nation. But God has shown me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

Paul’s Public Rebuke of Peter vv13-14

No One Is Justified By Works vv15-19

Justification is the act of God where He pronounces a sinner to be righteous because of that sinner’s faith in Christ.

Romans 5:9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

1 Peter 3:18a For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God...

Romans 5:1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Christ Lives In Me v20

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.
